Telangana, Bihar and Delhi among 8 states with no woman minister

It’s a day of celebration, it’s a day of seeing how far we have reached and how much distance remains yet to be covered when it comes to bringing women to equal footing as men, it is the International Women’s Day.

International Women’s Day is celebrated on 8 March every year. On this occasion, rallies, marchs, discussions, etc. are held all over the world and talks on women themes takes pace. No country can ignore its half-population and achieve the full goals of development. While still the women’s representation for political parties has not been a political issue. After the Women’s Reservation Bill, was passed in Rajya Sabha, due to disagreements and objections of political parties, the passage of Lok Sabha remained unpassed and the issue seem to have reached the cold shelf. Due to this, the way for 33% reservation for women in parliament and legislatures has not been cleared.

Years since the discussion of bringing women reservation to the centre and state began, the number of female lawmakers remain very low. The situation is so bad in certain states, that they have not even one woman minister in their cabinet.

The following states have no woman minister in their cabinet:

  1. Bihar
  2. Delhi
  3. Telangana
  4. Mizoram
  5. Nagaland
  6. Arunachal Pradesh
  7. Meghalaya
