Telangana state Congress chief Uttam Kumar Reddy pledged to send Chief Minister K. Chandrashekhar Rao to jail on Wednesday if the party is voted to power. The statement from Congress state chief came in the wake of the arrest of party leader Jagga Reddy. Congress leader and a former MLA from Sangareddy, Jagga Reddy was arrested by the state police in charges of a human trafficking case. Uttam Reddy condemned the leader’s detention in a public meeting at Sangareddy town on Wednesday night.

Police had arrested Jagga Reddy following a suo motu case that was filed agaisnt Jagga Reddy in a Hyderabad police station. According to the police, he allegedly obtained Indian passports and US visas by submitting fake documents in the name of his family members.

“He allegedly obtained passports in 2004 for himself and for his wife, daughter and son by affixing the photos of others. He also allegedly obtained US visas for them and illegally transported them by accompanying them to the US as his family member,” said the police officer.

However, Kumar Reddy says “Jagga Reddy has been incriminated in a fake case to tarnish his image since he is a popular leader among people. The state government is doing this seeing the election nearing because of his popularity. If any of our leaders is tortured by police, we won’t tolerate. Same treatment would be done with them if we come to power.”

Uttam in his public meet also asked the Director General of Police Mahender Reddy to act as per law and to put an end to discriminations against the Congress leaders.
