Telangana: Police detain Congress leader Revanth Reddy ahead of KCR rally

EC shunts out Telangana SP over Congress leader Revanth Reddy's arrest

Kodangal: Congress candidate from Kodangal, Revanth Reddy was detained at the wee hours on Tuesday for allegedly threatening to stop the meeting of caretaker Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao in the constituency.

As per news reports, police stormed into his house around 3 am, while everyone was sleeping.

Geeta, wife of Revanth Reddy said, “Around 3 am some people knocked on our door and broke it open and forced themselves in. My husband and I were sleeping in the room along with our daughter. Are we terrorists that they should treat us like this?”

With two days remaining in the poll which is scheduled on Friday, Congress candidate reportedly has been shifted to a jail around 90 km away from his constituency Kodangal.

In a notice by Telangana Poll body, the state election commission accused Reddy of giving a call to stop KCR rally in Kodangal today.

As per the notice, a large number of KCR supporters are likely to assemble during the rally protest from Congress followers may create law and order problem in the assembly constituency.
