Telangana Polls: Police seize Rs 70 lakh in Hyderabad

The Hyderabad police on Monday seized around Rs 70 lakh in Shahinayathgunj area during a check, which is being conducted in the whole state ahead of Telangana polls scheduled for December 7.

The police told media, they conducted checks between 6:30 and 7:30 pm and during that time police found a suspicious car. “On our check in the said car, we found Rs 60, 00,000 in one cloth bag and carton box. On inquiry with two people by name Pavan Vyas and Sukumar Das (driver) who was in the car, they did not give a satisfactory answer” the police stated in a press note.

The owner of the car stated that he was going to deposit the money in the bank, after collecting it from clients.

“As we were not convinced, we seized the unaccounted net cash of Rs 60 lakh from the possession of the duo. Subsequently, we noticed another car which was moving in a suspicious manner towards Begum Bazaar and we stopped it. On checking, we found Rs 9.97 lakh in one suitcase. On inquiry, we did not receive a satisfactory answer and seized the unaccounted cash”, police stated.
