Thothapuri Chapter 2 Release Date: When Navarasa Nayaka Jaggesh’s Thothapuri Chapter 1 was released in September of last year and failed to make a significant impact at the box office, it was widely anticipated that the sequel would go straight to OTT. However, since streaming platforms have ceased acquiring Kannada content for direct dissemination, the filmmakers must utilise the theatrical route. It had been rumoured for some time that Thothapuri 2 would be released in August, but no confirmation existed until now.
Thothapuri Chapter 2 Release Date:
Earlier today, producer KA Suresh announced that the release date for Thothapuri Chapter 2 has been set, and the team has decided to go head-to-head with superstar Rajinikanth. While Chapter 1 of Thothapuri was released alongside Ponniyin Selvan 1 and Kantara, Chapter 2 will be in theatres on August 12, a day after Nelson’s Jailer. The release date for Jailer is August 10.
The Vijayaprasad-helmed film Thothapuri Chapter 1 followed four characters portrayed by Jaggesh, Aditi Prabhudeva, Hema Dutt, and Veena Sundar in a story replete with mature humour and weighty emotions. Also featured in the film were characters portrayed by Suman Ranganathan and Dhananjaya, who will play larger roles in the sequel.
Thothapuri Chapter 1 was widely criticised for being verbose, sentimental, and crude, and if Vijayaprasad’s filmography is any indication, Chapter 2 will likely be along the same lines. While Chapter 1 focused on the formation and evolution of various relationships against the backdrop of religion and harmony, Chapter 2 will close some of the loose ends and introduce a few new subnarratives and characters.
