Three St Stephen’s College students among 4 drowned in Periyar river

In a tragic incident, four people, including 3 students from St. Stephen’s College in New Delhi, drowned in Periyar river at Paniyeli Poru, a tourist spot near Perumbavoor in Ernakulam district on Friday.

Benny, who runs a resort nearby, and the 3 students lost their lives in the mishap.

The St. Stephen’s students were identified as Anubhav Chandra, Aditya Patel (both 3rd yr Sanskrit) and Kenneth John (1st yr Chemistry). Kenneth was a native of Wayanad, reports said.

All the four bodies have been recovered.

The students were friends of Benny’s daughter, who also studies in St. Stephen’s College. They had come to the resort for their holidays.

The bodies have been shifted to a hospital.
