The makers of Toblerone face a mountain of fury after making a controversial change to its distinctive triangular chocolate chunks. The signature design on 400g (now 370g) and 170g (now 150g) bars sold in the UK now appears greatly spaced out when compared with the original.
Mondelez International, the makers of Toberlone, attributed rising in cost of ingredients to the move. It argued that reducing the weight of the two affected bars was a way of ensuring Toblerone ‘remains affordable’.
Customers though are immensely miffed with the change; many have described the move as ‘the wrong decision’ and said the bigger spaces looked ‘stupid’.
