The hashtag #SaveBengalFromBJP is trending on Twitter on Thursday, a day after the secretary of BJP IT cell Tarun Sengupta from Asansol was arrested by the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for posting ‘fake’ images and videos on social media.
Sengupta is the third person to face such action in just past four days. A case was also registered against BJP spokesperson, Nupur Sharma for allegedly sharing images of 2002 Gujarat riots and claiming it to be a picture from ongoing riot and communal disharmony that recently rocked Bengal.
Sharma had posted pictures of charred vehicles, claiming them to be pictures of Baduria violence.
Here’s how Twitterati reacted on BJP leaders’ activities with the hashtag #SaveBengalFromBJP.
