Bengaluru: Union Minister for Parliamentary Affairs Ananth Kumar passed away on early Monday at a private hospital in Bengaluru, a party leader said. He was 59.
“Minister Ananth Kumar passed away at 3 a.m. at a private hospital where he was undergoing treatment for cancer,” a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) legislator from Bengaluru R. Ashoka told reporters here.
HN Ananth Kumar, who had come down to the city a few days ago after undergoing treatment in London.
Earlier this week, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Sumitra Mahajan had visited their ailing cabinet colleague. Union Health Minister JP Nadda visited Mr Kumar who has represented the Bengaluru South parliamentary constituency six times since 1996.
