University Grants Commission has published a list of central universities that have been granted Graded Autonomy under the UGC (Categorization of Universities (only) for Grant of Graded Autonomy) Regulations, 2018.
By granting universities autonomy, they will gain additional administrative and academic independence, improving their quality and performance as a whole. It will be the universities’ responsibility to make decisions regarding academic, administrative, and financial matters.
Eight central universities have been granted autonomy. The list of universities includes:

Universities are granted autonomy after undergoing a rigorous evaluation process that examines a variety of factors, including academic performance, infrastructure, governance, and research output.
