Watch: BJP MP Sharad Tripathi beats BJP MLA Rakesh Singh with shoes over placement of names on foundation stone

Sant Kabir Nagar: During the meeting of the District Planning Committee in the Collectorate Auditorium on Wednesday evening, Sharad Tripathi and Menhdawal MLA Rakesh Singh Baghel got entangled in the meeting. The argument broke on the issue over the placement of names on a foundation stone of a project in the area, the two began to threaten each other.

At the same time, the MP pulled out the shoe from his leg and starting hitting the MLA. The adjacent sitting MLA Shri Ram Chauhan, Ashutosh Tandon, DM Raviesh Kumar Gupta etc. were shocked by the incident.

DM and MLAs came in between and put a stop to the beating. Soon after, the ministers left the meeting and returned to Lucknow. MP went into a room and closed the door, while the MLA stood in the premises along with their supporters.

Sharad Tripathi who won the Lok Sabha general elections, 2014 from the Sant Kabir Nagar constituency, is the son of Shri Ramapati Ram Tripathi, former president of the BJP State Unit of Uttar Pradesh.

While, BJP leader Rakesh Singh Baghel has been a member of the the Legislative Assembly of Uttar Pradesh from the Mendawal constituency. He defeated Bahujan Samaj Party candidate Anil Kumar Tripathi by a margin of over 40,000 votes.
