Eleven Uttar Pradesh Police officials were issued a summon by a local court on Wednesday December 19 in connection with an over 10 year old alleged fake encounter case in which a 23-year-old man was killed. The summon was ordered following plea of the deceased person’s mother.
The police personnel who have been summoned are ex-SHO of Patanpuri, Parveen Kumar; former constable Meer Hassan, Sub-Inspector Amir Singh, Iqbaluzam Khan, Sudhirpal Dhama, Naseem Khan, Ashok Kumar, Brijpal Singh, Sohanvir Singh, Megadin Singh and Police diver Jaseev Singh.
The court ordered them to appear before it on January 25, 2019 in connection with Amjad killing case. The chief judicial magistrate Rakesh Kumar Gautam issued summons against the policemen after taking cognisance under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

Akhtari Begum, mother of the deceased has alleged, her son Amjad was killed in a fake encounter by the police after abducting him from his house under Ratanpuri police station area of the district on 2 February 2007.
Amjad’s mother, said, “Now I have faith in the almighty and judiciary that I will finally get justice. My son was innocent and was taken into illegal custody by Ratanpuri police and later shot dead.”
