Uttarakhand BJP leader Virendra Manral, who had been facing trial for a murder case and had come to the court on Saturday for hearing, was shot dead outside the court in Nainital district.

Though the Police is yet to catch the accused in the murder of 38-year-old BJP leader, the preliminary investigations suggest that Devendra, the main accused of the incident was angry with Virendra Manral after he refused to give him the money he was promised for the murder of an influential man in 2015.

After receiving complaint from the decease’s family, police have so far booked four people, including Devendra, Sonu Kandpal, Harish Fartyal and Sanjay Negi.

Vikram Rathore, the Station house officer said, “Deceased Manral and accused Devendra were accused in the murder of Hemant Fartyal in 2015. Manral planned the murder for which he contacted Devendra.” “Later, both were nabbed and produced before a court which granted bail to Manral. Devendra, too, was granted bail later. However, Devendra was angry with Manral for using him (Devendra) for his own interest and leaving him at his own peril when caught.”
