Over 200 victims of the serial blasts in the capital in 2005 may get compensation finally with the New Delhi Legal Services Authority starting the process to make a list of the entitled persons after a court order.  Last month, a court had declared its judgment in the Sarojini Nagar blast in which 60 people were killed and over 200 people were injured.

As per the sources, there were many victims whose identities were recognized during the course of the investigation. “We called for the records and started the process. While the compensation amount is yet to be decided, it would be disbursed based on the guidelines of Delhi Victim Compensation Act which was notified in December last year,” said Shivani Chauhan, secretary, New Delhi Legal Services Authority.

Many people’s life changed on that day including forgotten hero Kuldeep Singh – a 45-year-old DTC bus driver. He saved almost 70 lives but lost his eyesight and hearing. Another victim of the blast is Kiran, who was 28 when she lost husband Lal Chand Saluja. Saluja was the owner of the famous Shyam Juice shop in Sarojini Market.
