After 7 long years, the Tamil Nadu state government today announced a list of winners of the Kalaimamani award. Popular Kollywood stars like Vijay Sethupathi, Karthi, Yuvan Shankar Raja, Prabhudeva, Priyamani, Vijay Antony and R Rathinavelu have been chosen for the prestigious award.
The Kalaimamani award is instituted by the Tamil Nadu government in 1954. The award celebrates the excellence in the field of art and culture. All the winners will receive the awards from the Tamil Nadu CM at an official ceremony. The last time the Kalaimamani awards were presented was in the year 2010.
Last year, eight Vijay Sethupathi films released that included 96, Seethakathi, Petta and Chekka Chivantha Vaanam, among others. Currently, the actor is busy doing 6 films, including Sye Raa Narasimha Reddy in Telugu, Marconi Mathai in Malayalam and in Tamil, Super Deluxe and others.
