In recent years, the biopics on sportspersons had received a lot of appraisals from the fans. According to media reports, the recent one to join the league is Indian keeper-batsman Dinesh Karthik’s Bollywood biopic.
Bollywood has made biographical films on sports icons like Milkha Singh played by Farhan Akhtar, MS Dhoni played by Sushant Singh Rajput, Mary Kom played by Priyanka Chopra and Mohammad Azharuddin played by Emraan Hashmi.
Bollywood has also made a docu-drama on the Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar which was well appreciated by the fans as well.
The Tamil Nadu star cricketer Dinesh Karthik’s career has been a roller-coaster ride. Karthik made his international debut at the age of 19 in 2004 and even after 15 years of his debut, Karthik is not recognised as a regular player in the team.
If rumours are to be believed, the paperwork for the movie has already been done, and makers are expected to make an official announcement soon. Reportedly, actor Vikrant Massey, known for his role in web series Mirzapur, has been approached to essay the role of Karthik in the movie.
Karthik’s biopic will mainly focus on his stunning performance against Bangladesh in the final of Nidahas Trophy Tri-Series in 2018, which helped the Indian team win the match. The Men in Blue needed 34 off 12 balls to chase down 167. Karthik played a sensational inning and smashed 29 off just 8 balls. On the last ball of the game, India needed 5 runs to win and Karthik smashed a last-ball six to guide his team to a miraculous win.
Bollywood actor Vikrant Massey is considered to be the perfect choice for the movie as he resembles Karthik in his looks and also comes from a sports background. The actor is excited about the project which would be a great opportunity for him if he gets this role.
