Villagers dig up pond to quench thirst in Jharkhand

Due to scorching heat and extreme shortage of drinking water in the state, villagers have taken up the daunting task of digging a huge pond in Jharkhand.

They are digging the pond in the Hundaru township of the state, close to the airport road. There are around five-six townships in the vicinity, which rely entirely upon the pond for drinking water.

It was because of the excessive heat and hopelessness of the government that the villagers decided to undertake this uphill task on their own.

According to reports, they had earlier requested Mayor Asha Lakda to find a solution for this problem. As their needs were not attended to, the people got determined to solve the situation themselves.

Notably, chief secretary Rajbala Verma had appeared earlier this month before the division bench of Jharkhand High Court in connection with a PIL related to drinking water crisis in the state.
