Wajid Khan of Sajid-Wajid died at the age of 42. The news was confirmed by singer Sonu Nigam, who posted a picture on Instagram and wrote, “My brother Wajid left us.”
Wajid was a Bollywood gem as he contributed his part in many Bollywood songs and directed them. The duo consisting Sajid Khan and Wajid Khan is now left with one.
Wajid Khan is the son of Ustad Sharafat Ali Khan, who was a tabla player. Wajid Khan passed away on June 1, 2020 due to the complication arising from a kidney infection. He had multiple issues. He had a kidney issue and had a transplant. He was on the ventilator for the four days before the death. He was also tested positive for COVID-19.
Initial training of both brothers in music held under the guidance of father Ustad Sharafat Khan. He married to Yashmin khan in 2003, the couple was blessed with one daughter and son.
Sajid-Wajid are from Saharanpur, Uttar Pradesh, they belong to a musical family. Wajid’s maternal grandfather Ustad Faiyyaz Ahmed Khan Saab was the recipient of the Padma Shri while his uncle Ustad Niyaz Ahmed Khan Saab was the recipient of the prestigious Tansen award.
Wajid Khan first helmed the music and made their debut with Salman Khan‘s Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya in 1998. After that, they composed music for Sonu Nigam’s album Deewana, which included the songs “Deewaana Tera”, “Ab Mujhe Raat Din” and “Iss Kadar Pyaar Hai”. The same year, they worked as music directors for the film Hello Brother and wrote the songs “Hata Saawan Ki Ghata”, “Chupke Se Koi Aayega” and “Hello Brother”.
Wajid gave his contribution to the song Hata Sawan Ki Ghata, which became a number one hit and is still a top notch song with all the pep.
