On Wednesday, the Jamia Coordination Committee has called for a protest against CAA, NRC, and NPR. Remembering the event that unfolded on December 15, 2019, at the university, a protest called #ChaloJamia has been called.
The protest is scheduled to start from gate seven of the campus at 12 pm, and as a poster providing the details says, it is a call for “all students and civil society against CAA, NRC, NPR”. “We shall not forget, we shall not forgive,” the poster adds.
A large number of people are expected to be in attendance.
#ChaloJamia has been trending on Twitter since morning. Netizens also shared videos and images from the police crackdown on Jamia campus from December 15, 2019.

Protest is when I say I don’t like this. #Resistance is when I put an end to what I don’t like.
Protest is when I say I refuse to go along with this anymore. #Resistance is when I make sure everybody else stops going along too.#ChaloJamia pic.twitter.com/4EV9UBsI3C— Rumi رومى (@rumibaig222) January 14, 2020
The students have been at the forefront and facing flak ever since the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) protests started.
For the uninitiated, on December 15, while students of Jamia had come out on the streets in protest against the newly amended Act, the Delhi police had resorted to violence to control the crowd. The clash between the police and protesters saw many injured students and police officers.
