WhatsApp, an instant messaging network owned by Meta, unveiled a new layer of security, dubbed “Accidental deletion,” on Monday.

Everyone has experienced sending a message to the wrong individual or group by clicking ‘Delete for me’ instead of ‘Delete for Everyone’, putting them in an awkward position, according to a corporate statement.

To address this issue, the Accidental delete functionality will provide users with a five-second chance to undelete an accidentally deleted message by clicking ‘Delete for Everyone’

This feature allows users to rapidly undelete a message if they pick ‘Delete for myself’ when they meant to select ‘Delete for everyone’.

The Accidental deletion function is accessible to all Android and iPhone users.

In India, the messaging platform introduced a new ‘Message Yourself’ function last month.

It is a one-on-one conversation with yourself for sending notes, reminders, and updates. With this tool, WhatsApp users may manage their to-do lists by sending themselves notes, reminders, shopping lists, and other items.
