Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman will present Union Budget on July 5. This will be NDA 2.0 government’s full budget after Lok Sabha 2019 election win. It may be noted that Interim Budget 2019-20 was tabled by Finance Minister Piyush Goyal in February.
Who has presented the budget most number of times?
- Morarji Desai has presented the budget most number of times, he has done so on 10 occasions.
- P Chidambaram has presented the budget a whopping 9 times.
- Pranab Mukherjee has given the budget 8 times.
- Yashwant Sinha, YB Chavan and CD Deshmukh have done presented seven budgets each in the past.
- Former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh TT Krishnamachari has presented six budgets.
- Jaswant Singh, V P Singh, C Subramaniam, John Mathai and R K Shanmukham Chetty have tabled two budgets each
- Arun Jaitley as the Finance Minister has presented a total of five Budgets
Due to General Elections, an interim Budget was presented instead of the usual full-fledged. An interim Budget is a complete set of accounts which includes both expenditure and receipts of the government.
The central government has done away with the practice of presenting a separate budget for Indian Railways.
