After a month full of ups and downs, twists and turns, and new developments shaping up the political space almost every day, the Congress party has fielded their candidates for Lok Sabha seats in Delhi.

From the Congress party, JP Agarwal is fielded from Chandni Chowk, Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee president Sheila Dikshit from North East Delhi, Arvinder Singh Lovely from East Delhi, Ajay Maken from New Delhi, Rajesh Lilothia from North West Delhi and Mahabal Mishra from West Delhi.

There was much speculation around who would be the grand old party’s candidate from the North West Delhi constituency, Congress decided to go with Rajesh Lilothia.

Rajesh Lilothia is a two-time Member of Legislative Assembly. In the 2008 Delhi Vidhan Sabha elections, Lilothia had defeated Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) hope Anita Arya by 9,506 votes. Along with Devender Yadav and Haroon Yusuf, Lilothia was recently appointed as the Working president of Delhi Pradesh Congress Committee.

Over the years Lilothia has taken top roles across various organisations. He has presided over the Delhi Pradesh Youth Congress. He was a Patron at the All India SC/ST Railway Employees Association (Regd).

Lilothia has also been the Vice President of Indo Sri Lanka Cultural Council. Besides, in the past, the North East Delhi candidate of the Congress party has been a member of the Delhi Khadi & Village Industries Board, and the Vice President of Indo Russian Traders Association – (Moscow).
