Who Is Sohaib Khan:Ishan Kishan and young sensation Vaibhav Suryavanshi are among the top talented players from Bihar who receive recognition from cricket fans. Sohaib Khan from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) has become a global cricket star through his outstanding cricket achievements at the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026 tournament, which takes place in 2026.

Sohaib first scored 51 runs against Canada and then followed it up with a powerful 68-run knock against Afghanistan. His international-level performance during the aggressive innings showed through his ability to hit multiple boundaries and sixes.

He achieved his second fifty during the intense match against Afghanistan when he got out during the final period of the game after establishing a strong batting foundation for UAE. When Sohaib came out to bat in the 13th over, they were 66 for 4. With another 85 required from 7.3 overs, ESPNcricinfo’s Forecaster gave them just 15.3% chance of winning.

“The strategy was quite simple,” Sohaib said after the match. “We were requiring around 12 runs per over. As MS Dhoni says, when you are on the pitch and there is pressure, just stay calm and back yourself. I was thinking the same.
“The plan was to target the short straight boundary, and if bowlers pull their length back, then go hard at it. We anyway needed only one six per over.”

These performances established him as one of the rare players in the tournament who achieved consecutive fifties which attracted recognition from both cricket experts and fans.

Who Is Sohaib Khan? Bihar Roots, UAE Journey

Sohaib Khan was born in Kothi village in Bihar’s Gaya district. He plays cricket for the UAE national team although he has Indian heritage. Reports indicate that his limited chances in India forced him to seek better opportunities outside the country during the COVID-19 pandemic when he dedicated himself to his cricket career through training and practice.

“I moved to UAE during the COVID pandemic. I was not getting many opportunities here (India). I was married in 2021 and my daughter and my wife were there as well as my parents. I thought this is the game – what I can do my best. I have struggled a lot from the past 4-5 years, now if I get this phase then it’s okay – what else I can ask from the God,” Sohaib Khan said in a press conference in New Delhi. “I played around three to four years from 2014 to 19 and played two consecutive North Zone from Jamia – 2017 and 2018,” Sohaib revealed.

The path he took demonstrates how talented cricketers from less-populated areas gain access to opportunities through associate cricketing countries.
Special Milestone Linked to Virender Sehwag
Sohaib maintains an exclusive bond with former Indian opener Virender Sehwag through a one-of-a-kind relationship. He achieved his career milestone by becoming the second Jamia Millia Islamia University cricketer to participate in a T20 World Cup after Sehwag.

Bihar has become a cricket talent hub because Ishan Kishan represents India and Vaibhav Suryavanshi excels in youth and domestic cricket while Sohaib Khan competes for the UAE on the international stage.
