Wipro Hybrid Work Policy 2026: 6 Hours in Office Mandatory or Leave Days Cut

Wipro Hybrid Work Policy 2026:Wipro Ltd., one of the largest companies in the Indian IT service sector, has made a complete overhaul of its hybrid work policy and it will be effective from 1st January 2026, the new rules connecting office presence to employees’ leave balances being the major alteration. This move shows a shift to a controlled in-person presence, although the hybrid model is still retained, and the matter has sparked conversations not only in the industry but also among the employees.

Wipro Hybrid Work Policy 2026: What Has Changed?

According to the new policy, Wipro employees have to be in the office for a minimum of six hours on each of their work-from-office (WFO) days. This requirement is measured from the time an employee punches in at the start of the day to when they punch out.

The company continues its hybrid model, which mandates three office days per week. However, the added six-hour minimum sets a clearer expectation about not just how often employees should work from the office, but how long they must stay there.

Attendance Linked to Leave Balances

One of the most talked-about aspects of this update is its impact on leave days. Wipro has now directly linked hybrid attendance compliance to leave management. It is the case that if a worker does not fulfill the six-hour office requirement on a specified WFO day, the worker will have half a day cut from the leave balance. Continuing disobedience of this rule or the weekly office attendance may also influence an employee’s total leave allowance.

This connection between discipline and attendance has heightened awareness as it is viewed as a more severe approach than previous policies which allowed for flexible attendance without any formal punishment.

Total Work Hours and Remote Work Days

It’s important to note that Wipro’s standard workday of 9.5 hours remains unchanged. The six-hour in-office requirement does not replace the full working day but ensures significant time is spent on the company. The remainder of the working hours can be completed remotely from home after the in-office stint on the same day.

In addition to this, the policy reduces the number of temporary remote work days granted for personal reasons, such as illness or caregiving. Earlier, employees could take up to 15 such days a year; now, this has been trimmed to 12 days annually.
