Domino’s Pizza overcharge: Ordering takeout is something most people do when they want a quick meal without much hassle. But for one woman in Toronto, her pizza dinner ended up becoming a long, stressful problem that took over her life for weeks.

Naya, who goes by Nayaskr on TikTok, shared her experience online, showing just how badly things can go with one small mistake. What started as a simple order through Domino’s website turned into a big financial mess that cost her time, stress, and almost $7,000.

A Simple Pizza Gone Wrong

On March 30, Naya placed a regular pizza order online from Domino’s. The total amount was $72.53. Everything seemed normal at first. The payment went through, the pizza arrived, and she ate it. She didn’t think anything was wrong until a few days later when she saw a missed call from Domino’s while she was at work. She didn’t think much of it at first and ignored the call. Later, she saw another missed call and then got a message from her bank telling her that she had gone over her credit card limit.

That’s when she checked her credit card statement and found out something shocking. Instead of charging her $72.53, Domino’s had charged her $7,253. That was 100 times more than what she was supposed to pay. Naya said she didn’t notice the mistake right away because everything looked fine when she placed the order and paid, reports AS News.

She thought it would be a quick fix. She called Domino’s and explained the situation. But the person she spoke to didn’t seem to care. She said they “couldn’t care less” and didn’t help her. She tried calling again, but nobody took her seriously. So she sent four emails to the company’s head office with proof of the mistake, including her receipt and other documents to show that the error was not her fault.

At the same time, she contacted her bank, Scotiabank, on April 1 and filed a dispute. The bank told her that it might take 30 to 90 days to resolve the issue. But even after waiting a whole month, she didn’t hear anything from them.

When she called to check, they said they hadn’t even started working on her case yet. That made her really worried. She knew how credit cards worked and how important it was to pay them off on time. If she didn’t take care of it soon, it could hurt her credit score or even lead to calls from debt collectors.

In her video, she said, “Seven thousand dollars is a lot of money, and this was a time sensitive issue, because everybody knows how a credit card works – you need to pay off your credit card, and you only have a certain amount of days to do so before it starts affecting your credit score, before you start getting calls from collections…”

Even though it was really hard, Naya somehow managed to pay the $7,000 into her account before anything bad happened to her credit. But the problem wasn’t solved yet. “At least now they are looking into it and we’ll wait and see what the outcome is,” she said.

A Bit of Relief After the Struggle

she decided to post a video about her experience on TikTok on May 19, hoping someone would finally take her seriously. Naya later shared an update saying that the bank had finally contacted her. She said, “Scotiabank have reached out to me and they have finally started looking into the dispute. They have also credited me the $7,000, and so, I’m satisfied with that – that’s honestly all I wanted from the beginning. That’s the temporary resolution for now.”
