After months of hype surrounding the cheapest smartphone in the world, an Israeli-based start-up has now launched the most expensive handset in the world.

Sirin Labs officially unveiled the £9,500 Android handset (without taxes) on Tuesday, which is also touted to be on of the most security-proof device among all other smartphones.

According to several media reports, the smartphone has been launched along with 256-bit chip-to-chip encryption, similar to the ones used military forces to encrypt communications.

Solarin, also known as the ‘Rolls Royce of smartphones, was launched at an event in London yesterday, as per reports. Some of the highlighting aspects of the device is the Snapdragon 810 SoC with X10 LTE, superior Wi-Fi, 23.8MP rear camera, and a 5.5-inch IPS LED 2K resolution display.

The company also mentioned that it wanted to create one of the most security-proof phones in the whole world, while maintaining high standards for design and performance as well.

Sirin Labs further pointed out that the device is made up of over 2,500 inner components within a meticulously designed exterior to achieve fast, seamless connectivity across any continent.

Although the possibility of many people buying this device seems unlikely, the president and co-founder of the start-up, Moshe Hogeg, held a different opinion.

“We do not accept that price drives what’s available in technology. With SOLARIN, we break the rules,” he said.
“Every single design decision and material choice was based on performance and functionality,” said Fredrik Öijer, VP Product, Sirin Labs.
