The tournament starts with the qualifying rounds on October 4 and 5. Main-draw matches will begin on Monday, October 6, and the event will finish on Sunday, October 12. Unlike bigger tournaments like the China Open, the Wuhan Open has a smaller singles draw with 56 players.

This includes 43 direct entries, four wildcards, one special exempt spot, and eight qualifiers. The top eight seeds get a pass straight into the second round. The doubles draw has 28 teams instead of 32. The official draw will be revealed on Saturday, October 4 at 4 p.m. local time.
Wuhan Open 2025: Venue
The Wuhan Open is played on outdoor hard courts at the Optics Valley International Tennis Centre. There are seven courts, and the main stadium, Central Court, can hold 15,000 fans.

The total prize money is $3,654,963, and the singles winner will get 1,000 ranking points along with almost $600,000.

Sabalenka returns to Wuhan after winning the US Open last month, her fourth Grand Slam title. Zheng Qinwen had re-injured her elbow at the China Open but is still expected to play. Other notable names include Naomi Osaka, Karolina Muchova, Emma Navarro, Victoria Mboko, Leylah Fernandez, and Emma Raducanu.
Some top players will miss the tournament like Madison Keys withdrew due to injury, Paula Badosa retired from Beijing with a hip issue, and former champions Barbora Krejcikova and Marketa Vondrousova are recovering from knee injuries.
Replacements in the main draw include Marie Bouzkova, French Open semifinalist Lois Boisson, Ann Li, and Maya Joint.

Defending Champion Aryna Sabalenka
Sabalenka has been extremely successful at Wuhan, winning the tournament three times in 2018, 2019, and 2024. She has a perfect 17-0 record at the Optics Valley International Tennis Centre. Since the tournament was not held from 2020 to 2023, no other player has claimed the title since 2017.
