2024 Social Security Payment Schedule Released: Monthly payments are distributed by the Social Security Administration (SSA) to millions of beneficiaries, including survivors and retired workers. Children, spouses, widows, widowers, or parents of any deceased beneficiary are considered survivors.
Monthly disability benefits, including Supplemental Security Income (SSI) and Social Security Disability Insurance (SSDI), are also distributed by the SSA.
The SSA has released the payment schedule for this year’s benefits. The following is a monthly breakdown of the schedule and dates of issuance for the year 2024.

The SSA arranges for SSI payments to be disbursed on the first of each month. When the initial day of payment is observed as a Saturday, Sunday, or holiday, the payment will be processed and disbursed on the preceding business day. Those who began receiving payments before May 1997, were nevertheless remunerated on the third of every month, irrespective of whether that date occurred on a weekend or holiday.
Individuals who concurrently receive SSI and Social Security benefits (retiree, survivor, or SSDI) have their SSI payment deposited on the initial day of the month, followed by the Social Security payment on the third day.
The remaining Social Security payments are mailed out on Wednesdays, by the beneficiaries’ dates of birth:
- Second Wednesday of the month: retirees with a date of birth between the 1st and 10th
- Third Wednesday: beneficiaries born between the 11th and 20th day
- Fourth Wednesday: retirees born between the 21st and 31st
If Wednesday is a holiday, payment is advanced to the first business day before.
