66th National Award: Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Padmavaat’ bags award for dance and music

66th National Award: Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Padmavaat' bags award for dance and music

The 66th National Awards are announced today by Rahul Rawail, head of the Jury for feature films, on Friday. 419 films competed for the awards this year.

Where on one end, Ayushmann Khurrana and Vicky Kaushal bagged the best actor award, Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Padmavaat made its place in the dance and music category.

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s controversial release Padmavaat bagged the best choreography for the song Ghoomar. Along with it also won the award in the best music direction (songs) category.

Other who won big in the music category were:

Best Lyrics: Nathichirami (Kannada)

Best Music Direction (Background score): Uri

Best Sound Design: Uri

Best Female Playback Singer: Bindu for Mayavi Manave (Kannada)

Best Male Playback Singer: Arijit Singh for Bhinte Dhil

Vicky Kaushal’s URI: The Surgical Strike was well acclaimed in the music category and won under two respected category of music.
