New Delhi: Human Resource and Development Ministry (MHRD) has decided to regulate the guidelines related to the weight of school bags and issued a circular to school and education department of all states in this regard.
MHRD has instructed the education departments of all the states and asked them to regulate the teaching of subjects and weight of school bags as per the government instructions.
MHRD circular states that homework should not be assigned to the students of class1 and 2.
It further adds that students shouldn’t be asked to carry extra books as it increases the weight. Ministry has instructed the concerned department to implement the orders strictly with immediate effect.
MHRD rolls out schemes for higher education teachers’ training
According to norms, the maximum weight of schoolbag for Class 1 and 2 is 1.5 kg and for classes 8 to 10, it cannot exceed 5 kg.
