‘Ramayana In Rhyme’, a lyrical, contemporary interpretation of the age old epic, Ramayana by two 18-year old students Kairavi Bharat Ram and Ananya Mittal, was launched at the Ravi Shankar Institute of Music and Performing Arts (RIMPA) in Chanakya Puri, Delhi.
Mythology has been an unapproachable read for children; it’s something that they grow up listening to but refrains from reading. ‘Ramayana In Rhyme’ is a version in tune with the current time and makes for an effortless and interesting 30-minute read.
The colorful and detailed illustrations in the book successfully make the narrative even more magical and mysterious. It is a must read for all children aged between 5-16 years.
“It’s our way of sharing with you a story that’s been a huge part of our childhoods. We hope that you enjoy it for the story that it is and for the lessons that it teaches both about ourselves and our culture. It may not be the coolest book to read and you may be wondering why two 16-year-old girls wanted to write about it but if you just look at things a little differently you’ll find a story with superheroes, magic, romance, revenge and everything you’d ever want to read about,” said co-authors Kairavi and Ananya.
Ananya was in class 11 at the Shri Ram School when she wrote the book along with her co-author, and sister, Kairavi. On the other hand, Kairavi was a student of the IB program.
