Protests over the contentious Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) has been spreading across the country with students, some sections of the civil society and opposition political parties holding demonstrations at several places urging the Centre to revoke the Act.

Gauhati Hifgh Court directed the Assam government to restore mobile internet services by 5 PM today. Mobile internet services were supended in the state following protests against the amended Citizenship Act.


03:45 PM | 19 flights cancelled, 16 delayed due to anti-CAA protests in Delhi

Amid the intense situation in several area of Delhi over protest against the amended Citizenship act, thhe government has ordered the suspension of cellular services in several areas of Delhi.


12:12 PM | SMS, data services suspended in Delhi; Complying with govt instructions: Airtel

Airtel has confirmed that mobile internet services in parts of Delhi have been suspended on instructions received from the government. “SMS and data in certain areas in Delhi. Once the suspension orders are lifted, our services will be fully up and running. We’re sorry about.”


12:10 PM | Security updates

Section 144 has been imposed at Mandi House ahead of the planned protest against the Citizenship Amendment Act. The gates to the Mandi House metro station, along with Vasant Vihar have been closed.


11:20 AM | Historian Ramchandra Guha, others detained during CAA protest

Historian Ramchandra Guha has been detained in Bengaluru for taking part in a protest against the amended Citizenship Act. Meanwhile, former MP Dharamvir Gandhi and Yogendra Yadav were also detained in Delhi.


10:55 AM | Section 144 in two areas in Delhi

Section 144, that bars more than four people to gather at one place, has been imposed in parts of Delhi including areas near Red Fort, ahead of the protest march scheduled from the iconic monument at 12 PM today.


10:30 AM | 13 Delhi Metro stations closed amid planned protests over Citizenship act

Owing to the security issues amid planned protests over Citizenship act, the DMRC has announced to close at least 13 Delhi Metro stations.

Jamia Millia Islamia, Jasola Vihar, Shaheen Bagh, Munirka, Lal Quila, Jama Masjid, Chandni Chowk, Patel Chowk, Lok Kalyan Marg, Udyog Bhawan, ITO, Pragati Maidan, Khan Market and Vishwavidyalaya have been closed. Trains will not halt at these stations

The Ferozabad district has booked an All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) leader Ehtsaham Ali Babar for allegedly posting an inflammatory video on Facebook to incite local residents against the Citizenship (Amendment) Act (CAA) and the National Register of Citizens (NRC).
