Yesterday, the violence carried out at the Jawaharlal Nehru University (JNU) on January 5 evening left the country in shock.
Several masked miscreants attacked the students and the teachers within the campus. The victims allege that the miscreants belong to Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP), a student union affiliated with Rashtriya Seva Sangh (RSS).
Taapsee Pannu, Anurag Kashyap, Swara Bhasker, Rajkummar Rao, Ayushmann Khurrana, Kriti Sanon had condemned the attack.
Twinkle Khanna was also amongst them, she tweeted, “India, where cows seem to receive more protection than students, is also a country that now refuses to be cowed down. You can’t oppress people with violence-there will be more protests, more strikes, more people on the street. This headline says it all.”

Her tweet didn’t go down well with some of the Twitter users, who asked her to talk to her husband first. A few months back, Akshay Kumar had been a guest at an ABVP rally and his picture holding their flag had gone viral.

Don’t you think it’s better to discuss within the family first for a inclusive view to put forward in public. pic.twitter.com/kJ8BS06fg8

For the uninitiated, the couple is known for having diverse views on the political state of India. Twinkle Khanna, former actress turned columnist/writer, is sharply critical of the current government.
