The White House was following PM Narendra Modi on Twitter for days but it has now unfollowed Prime Minister on Twitter. The White House started following Narendra Modi days back and everyone assumed that it was the result of US President Trump and Modi’s friendship which lead to The White House following him.
The White House, which is the official residence of Trump, used to follow both the personal account (@narendramodi) of PM Modi and his official Twitter handles @PMOIndia.
The White House has now unfollowed both the accounts of PM Narendra Modi on Twitter on the night of Tuesday.
The White House used to follow 19 accounts then and now the number has reduced to 13. The White House also unfollowed President of India Ramnath Kovind from Twitter, the Indian embassy in the US, and the US embassy in India.
Due to the coronavirus pandemic, Trump asked India for the immediate supply of Hydrochloroquine to the US and on April 7, he threatened that if India did not immediately allow the supply of Hydroxychloroquine to the US they will face consequences.
Trump told reporters, “I would be surprised if that were his (Modi’s) decision. He’d have to tell me that. I spoke to him Sunday morning, called him, and I said we’d appreciate your allowing our supply to come out. If he doesn’t allow it to come out, that would be okay, but of course, there may be retaliation. Why wouldn’t there be?”
Everyone started noticing that The White House follows PM Narendra Modi on Twitter and the India Media speculated that it was because of the bond that Trump and Modi shares.
And on, April 28, The White House has now unfollowed Modi and other Twitter accounts related to India.
