Twitter account holder Vivek, who appears to be a doctor as anticipated through tweets, saved a Beggar’s life who was lying unconscious on railway platform due to a seizure disorder. Displeased with bystanders’ unsympathetic behaviour, Vivek iterated the incident through a thread of tweets posted on July 5, where he said that more than 30 men were standing carefree, watching the poor drooling and nearly dying due to fits.
A day to remember, professionally & personally. Somehow took off today to watch Sanju. Was in hurry to catch train back. There was huge crowd near a platform. Just peeked to see a man lying on floor. Moved few to see clearly. He was salivating, had peed in pants & unconscious.

With a heavy disappointment, Vivek tweeted saying “There were literally 30+ men standing around. But only a girl was near the unconscious person. She told he had fits for around 15 mins.”
There was literally 30+ men standing around. But only a girl was near the unconscious person. Observed she had a water bottle & a key in hand. Checked the person’s pulse, it was very high. She told he had fits for around 15 mins. She had put key in his hand & tried giving water.

First thing that striked was why didn’t these men stood like statues & no one tried checking him or helping that girl. Someone whispered these beggars drink & fall like this. He did look like a beggar (dirty torn clothes, bad breath). Before assuming this I checked his pockets.

Dr Vivek expressed his annoyance in further the following tweet saying none of the men spectators helped the man as he was poor, with dirty torn clothes and stinking breath. Instead, the poor was accused of being heavily drunk.
He had tablets for heart problem, high BP & nerve problem. Pulse started collapsing. Cleared his mouth & nose. Slapped gently, gave chest compression. He was getting critical. Told crowd I’m a doctor, he needs emergency treatment. There were two sensible gentleman who understood.
— Vivek (@Urtruefan) July 5, 2018
Since he looked like beggar, no one even touched him. But with help of those two gentlemen, lifted & took him out of railway station by hands. There were two policemen & two railway officers who didn’t even help calling an ambulance after I said he’s stranger & no one with him.

However, recalling the doctor’s Hippocratic Oath, Vivek came in the forefront to diagnose the vagrant following to which, he gave possible first aid and later, took the poor to a nearby hospital for further treatment.
Dr Vivek was further disappointed by the ambulance too, as the ambulance driver hesitated to serve the poor due to possible police case. However, taking the full responsibility of the beggar, Vivek managed to take the helpless patient to a nearby government hospital. The needy was given the required medical aid, all funded by Vivek.
I called ambulance. The ambulance driver hesitated to take because he’s stranger & it will be police case in government hospital. I assured him I’ll there till end & took him to Victoria (govt) hospital. Gave him required treatment. He regained consciousness & he started talking.

He told even yesterday he had fits & few times in past too. Had neglected it because he was regaining consciousness after every time he had one, thought that’s small problem. I knew he couldn’t afford medicine, bought him those. He’s a daily wage labourer in railway station.

In the following tweets Vivek told about the humble nature of the poor who gifted his pen as a token of gratitude for saving his life.
He isn’t a beggar. He earns his food, just has no one here to take care. The bad breath wasn’t of alcohol, that was because of not brushing & bathing for days. He wanted to go back to work tomorrow, had to clear formalities in police station to discharge him on my responsibility.
— Vivek (@Urtruefan) July 5, 2018
He went back smiling. As token of gratitude for helping him save his life, he thanked & when I returned back his belongings, he asked me to keep his pen with me as gift. Will treasure it. If he wasn’t bought to hospital, people would’ve watched him collapse & may be even die.
— Vivek (@Urtruefan) July 5, 2018
Through a thread of tweets, Vivek made an effort to recall and stir the sleeping humanity. He urged the society to help any and every person facing death, irrespective of caste or creed.
Life is precious. No one dared to touch or help because he looked shabby & drunk. What if one of your parents collapse the same way on road some day. World runs on gratitude, what you do to those who doesn’t matter to you. Atleast be sensible when someone’s dying in front of you.
— Vivek (@Urtruefan) July 5, 2018
Dr Vivek even mentioned a list of do’s and don’t’s to be remembered while giving a first aid to any seizure disorder sufferer.
We will come across seizures / fits cases sometime in our lives. There are certain things that shouldn’t be done (especially keeping objects in hand & mouth). Please go through carefully what to do & what not to do. Read. Think why. Understand. Remember. The first aid for fits. pic.twitter.com/R7Un7EgkFG
