Patna, May 12 — Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is slated to visit Bihar’s Gaya district on May 15, marking his fourth trip to the state in just five months — a clear sign that the party is intensifying its ground-level outreach ahead of the final phase of the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

According to party sources, Gandhi will meet grassroots Congress workers and local leaders in Gaya to review campaign efforts, assess booth-level preparedness, and boost morale in a state that remains electorally crucial but historically challenging for the Congress.

Bihar, with its 40 Lok Sabha seats, holds significant weight in the national political balance. While the Congress has played second fiddle to regional allies like RJD in recent years, Gandhi’s repeated visits point to a shift in tone — from backseat strategist to visible, on-ground mobiliser.

This will be Rahul Gandhi’s fourth tour of Bihar since January 2025. Earlier visits saw him address rallies in Patna and Purnia, interact with youth groups, and hold closed-door meetings with alliance partners under the INDIA bloc umbrella.

The May 15 visit is part of a wider strategy to re-energise the Congress cadre in the Hindi heartland, especially after setbacks in previous elections. Gaya, with its mix of rural voters, Dalit communities, and historical importance, offers symbolic value. Gandhi’s message to workers is expected to centre on rights-based welfare, constitutional values, and fighting back against what the party often terms as “institutional capture.”

Bihar Election 2025 Results Likely to Surprise as Power Dynamics Keep Shifting

Meanwhile, the BJP has maintained a dominant presence in Bihar, backed by a tight electoral machinery and a strong alliance with the JD(U). Gandhi’s Gaya visit, therefore, is not just about campaigning — it’s about signalling relevance.

As the Lok Sabha elections enter their final stretch, Rahul Gandhi’s recurring presence in Bihar shows that for Congress, no turf is too distant, no cadre too ignored. Whether this translates into votes remains to be seen — but the Congress leader is making it clear he’s not sitting this one out.
