US Immigration Text Alert Number: Starting July 1, 2025, people who get updates from USCIS by text will see messages coming from a different number. The old number, 468-311, also called GOV-311, will stop working. From now on, USCIS will send messages using 872466. This new number stands for USA-IMM, which means U.S.A. Immigration.

This change matters a lot for people waiting for immigration updates. USCIS uses text alerts to send case status info, appointment reminders, and other updates to applicants. If someone is used to seeing GOV-311, they might think the new number is fake or spam. That’s why USCIS wants everyone to save 872466 in their phone contacts.

How does the Change Affect People?

Many people fill out Form G-1145 when they apply for immigration benefits. This form lets them get text and email updates about their application. These messages usually include a receipt number and a link to check their case status online. The messages do not ask for personal info or money.

USCIS says the new number should help people easily know the messages are real and help build more trust in their service. “Effective July 1, 2025, USCIS will no longer send text (SMS) messages from the phone number 468-311 (GOV-311). Our new number will be 872466 (USAIMM),” the agency said, reported Newsweek.

USCIS also reminds people to stay alert for scams. They will never ask for money, passwords, or personal details in a text. If you get a strange message that says it’s from USCIS but looks suspicious, don’t reply. Go to the official USCIS website and report it.

Other Changes

Earlier this month, USCIS made another rule change. Now, every new green card application must include a fresh medical form. Before, older forms were allowed, but now they need to be new and updated.

In March, USCIS changed many forms quickly without much notice, and this caused a lot of confusion. Immigration lawyers even filed a lawsuit. Because of this, USCIS later gave applicants two extra weeks to adjust to the new forms.
