Delhi Blast Near Red Fort Kills: A powerful explosion near the Red Fort in Delhi on Monday evening shocked the city and left at least 8 people dead. The blast took place around 7 pm near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station. The explosion happened inside a parked car and was so strong that it set nearby vehicles on fire and shattered glass windows several metres away. Delhi Police said that eight people have been confirmed dead, and several others were injured.
Officials rushed to the spot within minutes after the explosion. Seven fire tenders reached the site to control the flames, while police sealed off the entire area. Senior Delhi Police officers and teams from the special cell are investigating the cause of the blast.

Firefighters said the flames spread quickly because of nearby vehicles catching fire. The Delhi Fire Service confirmed that “a call was received regarding an explosion in a car near Gate No. 1 of the Red Fort Metro Station in the evening, following which three to four vehicles also caught fire and sustained damage.”

People near the Red Fort said they heard a loud explosion that shook the area. “I was at the gurdwara when I heard a strong sound. We couldn’t make out what it was, it was that loud,” said one eyewitness. “A number of vehicles nearby were completely damaged,” he added.
Another person who witnessed the blast said he saw body parts scattered on the road. “…When we came near, we saw body parts spread on the road. No one could figure out what happened,” said a local shopkeeper. He added that he fell down multiple times because of the impact of the explosion. “I fell three times due to the explosion. It felt as if we were all going to die,” he said.
Panic gripped the area after the blast, and people started running in all directions. The sound of the explosion was heard in nearby buildings as well. Many shops quickly shut down as the fire spread to nearby cars. Visuals from the spot showed flames and thick black smoke rising from the burning vehicles.
Police Launch Investigation
Delhi Police immediately announced a high alert across the city after the explosion. The area around Red Fort was shut off, and vehicles were diverted to other routes. A team from the Delhi Police Special Cell arrived soon to check the site and collect evidence. The cause of the explosion is still being investigated, and officials have not yet confirmed whether it was an accident or a planned attack.
Fifteen injured people were taken to Lok Nayak Hospital, where doctors said eight of them could not survive. “Three people are in a serious condition, while one is stable,” the hospital informed ANI.
Officials said that all rescue and emergency teams are working together to find out what caused the blast. Delhi Police have started checking CCTV footage and are questioning people who were near the area at the time.
