London Paan spitting Fine case: In London, two men from Indian background got into trouble for spitting paan on public roads. Because of this, each of them now has to pay a big fine of 1,391 pounds, which is around Rs 1.72 lakh. This action was taken by Brent Council in north-west London, as shared in a report by Harrow Online.
The two men are Akshitkumar Bhadre Patel, who is 31 years old, and Hitesh Patel, who is 32. At first, both of them were given a small fine of 100 pounds when they were caught in June 2025. But they didn’t pay the fine and didn’t show up at the court either court. Due to this the case became more serious and the fine amount increased a lot.

What Exactly Happened?
The incidents happened on two different days but in nearby areas. Akshitkumar Patel spat paan on Kingsbury Road near Kingsbury station on June 11. The next day, Hitesh Patel did the same thing near North Wembley station. Since they did not attend court, both were found guilty even without being present.
Brent Council has been taking this issue very seriously. They say paan stains make public places dirty and are very hard to clean. Councillor Krupa Sheth spoke strongly about this and said, “We’re continuing our zero-tolerance approach to those who ruin our streets, which includes spitters of paan who stain street furniture. Every fine we dish out is a clear statement to offenders: if you mess up our streets, we will find you, and you will pay. That is why I am delighted that we have doubled the amount of fines that we have handed out in the last year. Don’t mess with Brent because we have had enough.”
Strict Action Against Paan Spitting
The council has increased checking and is keeping a close watch in areas like Wembley where this problem is growing. Cleaning paan stains is not easy and costs a lot of money. Reports say the council spends more than 30,000 pounds every year just to clean these marks from roads and buildings.
To stop this problem, the council is doing many things. Officers go around and watch for people breaking rules. If someone is caught, they are fined. If they do not pay, legal action is taken. The council is also trying to spread awareness so people stop this habit.

The council clearly said, “Paan chewing and spitting causes serious health issues. The stains cost the council over £30,000 to clean up each year. Enforcement officers are taking a zero-tolerance approach to those caught ruining Brent’s streets with paan, those caught will be fined £100. The council runs one-to-one support where residents can get support on quitting paan and smoking,” showing they want both strict rules and also help for people to quit this habit.
