A Guide to Using Niji Model V5 on Midjourney

A Guide to Using Niji Model V5 on Midjourney: Niji Model v5 is the most recent iteration of Midjourney’s anime-focused art generator, which was created in collaboration with Spellbrush.

You can activate the most recent version of Niji through Midjourney’s settings or by appending –niji 5 to the end of your prompt.

Using Niji 5, you can generate anime-inspired artwork from a new prompt or modify existing images generated in previous versions of Midjourney.

Midjourney allows you to use various Style parameters (cute, expressive, scenic) when generating images with the Niji model in order to fine-tune the implementation of Niji 5’s aesthetic.

What exactly is Midjourney Niji Journey?

Midjourney hosts the Niji model as part of a collaboration with Spellbrush, in addition to its own models. While Midjourney’s models have been trained to produce photorealistic images, the Niji model has been designed to generate anime and illustrations.

For this purpose, Midjourney has created an extensive data repository pertaining to anime, anime styles, and anime aesthetics. Enhanced character-centric composition enables Niji models to generate dynamic images in which the characters appear to be in motion.

While you can use the Niji mode for all types of prompts you would normally use on other versions of Midjourney, you may find that Niji is better adapted for conceptualising anime and manga-related subjects, objects, and scenes. If you input prompts unrelated to anime aesthetics, the generated images will have an artistic or abstract appearance.

How to turn on Niji Model V5 on Midjourney

To begin using the Niji model to produce anime and illustrations, you must first ensure that the most recent version of Niji is installed on your Midjourney account. Open one of Midjourney’s Discord servers, or access the Midjourney Bot from your Discord Server or Discord Direct Message. Regardless of how you reach it, click on the text box at the bottom.

Here, enter /settings, select /settings, and then press the Enter key.

To access more options in the Midjourney response that appears, select the drop-down menu at the top.

When the menu expands, select Niji Model V5, the most recent version of Niji as of this writing. When available, you can select a new version from this menu.

This will deploy the Niji version 5 model to your Midjourney account, allowing you to generate animations and illustrations using this model.

How to use Niji Model V5 to make animations and drawings

With version 5 of Niji activated on your Midjourney account, you can generate images with anime-inspired designs and aesthetics. Using the Niji model for image creation is comparable to using any other iteration of Midjourney to generate artwork and images.

Open one of Midjourney’s Discord servers or access the Midjourney Bot from your Discord server or direct message. Regardless of how you reach it, click on the text box at the bottom.

Here, enter /imagine and select /imagine from the resulting menu.

Now, input the desired image description into the “Prompt” box. You can add any of the parameters available in other versions of Midjourney by entering them at the conclusion of your prompt.

If you have not yet enabled the Niji model via Midjourney settings, you can activate version 5 of the Niji model for your upcoming generation by typing –niji 5 at the end of your prompt.

Once your prompt is complete, select Enter to send your request.

The Midjourney Bot will then begin to evaluate your prompt and generate images based on it. Once processing is complete, you should see four images based on your description and the chosen Niji model.

You can upscale or modify any of the generated images from this page by selecting the corresponding buttons beneath the image grid.

Use of the Style parameter in Niji 5

Midjourney’s Niji model can be used to create anime and illustrative art, but to obtain control over the composition and aesthetics, you can use the Style parameter.

The Style parameter is a tool available in all recent versions of Midjourney that allows you to fine-tune the aesthetic of images generated by the AI tool. The parameter enables you to define the effect of Midjourney’s default aesthetic, so that the generated images differ from those generated without the Style parameter.

Version 5 of the Niji Model supports four distinct –style parameter categories when creating images. These consist of:

–use the cute style to generate endearing characters, subjects, and environments.
–style evocative generates illustrations with a higher level of sophistication that emphasise the words in your prompt.
–style scenic can generate aesthetically pleasing backgrounds and cinematic characters in fantastical settings.
–style original implements the original aesthetic styling for Niji Model Version 5; it’s the default for creations made prior to May 26, 2023.

To apply the intended style parameter in Niji version 5, use one of the following syntaxes:

/visualisation prompt description> –cute style/imagination prompt description> –style imaginative /imagine provocation description> –style picturesque /imagine provocation description> –style unique

To begin using Midjourney’s style parameter, select the text box at the bottom of the screen. Here, enter /imagine and choose /imagine from the menu.

Now, input the image’s desired description. Be sure to add the –style (cute, expressive, scenic, or original) parameter to the conclusion of your prompt before pressing the Enter key on your keyboard when scripting this prompt.

Based on your description and style parameter, Midjourney will now process your prompt and generate a set of four images.

You can upscale or modify any of the generated images from this page by selecting the corresponding buttons beneath the image grid.

How to edit images using Niji 5?

You can create images from inception using Niji 5 by entering a prompt and adding the desired style parameter. Unbeknownst to some, Midjourney can also be used to modify images that have already been generated in another version, but this time with the Niji model. To do so, you must utilise the platform’s Remix Mode, which allows you to modify your prompt when creating variants of existing images on Midjourney.

You must activate Remix Mode on your account before you can modify your prior images on Midjourney using Niji 5. Open one of Midjourney’s Discord servers, or access the Midjourney Bot from your Discord Server or Discord Direct Message. Tap the text field at the bottom regardless of how you accessed it.

Here, enter /settings, select /settings, and then press the Enter key.

In the Midjourney response that appears, select the Remix mode option.

When you do so, the selected Remix mode option will be highlighted with a green background.

When generating variations of a generated image, Midjourney will prompt you for a new prompt when Remix Mode is enabled.

Now that Remix Mode is enabled, you can modify your existing images using the Niji model from Midjourney. To accomplish this, you must locate the image grid or upscaled image that you wish to modify using Remix Mode.

To modify one of the images in an existing image grid, select the corresponding variate option (V1, V2, V3, or V4) based on the image you wish to use to create variations.

If you want to create variations of a generated image that has already been upscaled, click on Vary (Strong) or Vary (Subtle) under the upscaled image, depending on how different you want the new set of images to appear from the original.

When you select on a variation option, the Remix Prompt box will appear. In order to recreate the image using Niji 5, you can append the –niji 5 parameter to the end of your prompt within this box.

You can apply Niji styles to the original image by appending the –style parameter (cute, expressive, scenic, or original) to the end of your prompt.

When your modified prompt is complete, select the Submit button to send your request.

Midjourney will now begin processing your request and generate four new images using the Niji Model V5 based on the composition of the original image.

Here, you have the option to either upsample desired images or further modify them with Relax Mode.

What types of artwork are possible with Niji 5?

The Niji model of Midjourney is capable of creating artwork and illustrations with anime styles and aesthetics. Activating Niji Model V5 on your Midjourney enables you to create images from inception or modify existing images you’ve generated on Midjourney with an anime touch.

To illustrate the types of images you can generate with Niji 5, we’ve generated a variety of anime-themed images using Midjourney version 5.2 and Niji model V5 with and without the Style parameter.

As you can see from the examples above, version 5.2 of Midjourney can be used to create images with an anime aesthetic. When the Niji model is applied to creations, Midjourney generates images with a stronger anime-inspired aesthetic. You can modify the style and intensity of this motif by including various style parameters in your input.

That’s everything you need to know about using Niji Model V5 to create animations and illustrations for Midjourney.
