On Friday, April 28, a special CBI (Central Bureau of Investigation) court in Mumbai exonerated Bollywood actor Sooraj Pancholi in the Jiah Khan death case. According to sources, Sooraj Pancholi was acquitted due to a paucity of evidence.

On June 3, 2013, the body of Jiah Khan, a 25-year-old American citizen, was discovered in her Juhu residence. Following the discovery of a six-page letter purportedly written by the Bollywood actress, Sooraj was subsequently detained and charged with aiding suicide under section 306 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).
