Aghil Keshavarz Execution: Iran has executed a 27-year-old man after convicting him of spying for Israel’s intelligence service, Mossad. State media reported that the execution took place on Saturday after the country’s highest court confirmed the sentence. The man was identified as Aghil Keshavarz. Iranian authorities said he worked closely with Israeli intelligence and collected sensitive information inside Iran.
According to state media, the legal process ended after the Supreme Court approved the punishment. The judiciary said it followed all required steps before carrying out the execution.

The Mizan news agency shared the official statement, saying, “The death sentence for Aghil Keshavarz, found guilty of spying for the Zionist regime, communicating and cooperating with the regime, and taking photographs of military and security sites, was carried out after being upheld by the Supreme Court and following legal procedures,” the Mizan agency reported.
Who Was Aghil Keshavarz?
Aghil Keshavarz was 27 years old and had studied architecture in Iran. Authorities arrested him between April and May in the city of Urmia, which is in northwestern Iran. Officials said he was caught while taking photos near a military headquarters. Urmia is about 600 kilometres from Tehran.
What Was He Accused Of?
Iranian media described him as an “agent” of Mossad. Officials claimed he completed more than 200 missions across different cities, including the capital. The tasks reportedly included collecting images, studying traffic routes, and placing tracking devices.
State media said, “Photographing targeted locations, planting tracking devices, conducting opinion polling, and examining traffic patterns in specific routes were among the missions Aghil Keshavarz carried out on the orders of Mossad officers,” according to the agency.
Authorities said the court reviewed his confession during the trial. The trial took place behind closed doors, which is common in Iran for cases involving national security.

Espionage Cases in Iran
Iran often holds secret trials for people accused of spying. Defendants usually cannot see the full evidence used against them. In October, Iran also executed another person accused of spying for Israel in the city of Qom.
Officials say Iran has executed 11 people for espionage since a 12-day air war with Israel in June. That conflict reportedly killed nearly 1,100 people in Iran, including senior military officers and nuclear scientists. Iran later launched missile attacks that killed 28 people in Israel.
