Ahmedabad-Patna Amrit Bharat Express: Ahmedabad is now set to get its first Amrit Bharat Express. Indian Railways has approved the old 09447/09448 Ahmedabad-Patna special train to run as a regular service with new numbers 21905/21906. The train will now be called the Ahmedabad-Patna Amrit Bharat Express. Multiple reports published on March 25, 2026 said the approval has been given and that the service will run once every week between the two cities.
This is a big moment for Ahmedabad because the city did not have an Amrit Bharat Express before this. The new service is expected to give passengers a better travel option on this long route. The official communication, as reported publicly, says the train will offer modern facilities and improved comfort for people travelling between Gujarat and Bihar.

On the return side, Train No. 21906 Patna-Ahmedabad Amrit Bharat Express will leave Patna at 10:30 PM every Friday and reach Ahmedabad at 5:25 AM on Sunday.

During the trip, the train will stop at Anand, Chhayapuri, Godhra, Dahod, Ratlam, Bhawani Mandi, Ramganj Mandi, Kota, Sawai Madhopur, Gangapur City, Hindaun City, Bayana, Idgah Agra, Tundla, Govindpuri, Subedarganj and Pt. The Railway Board has also said the train will run with a single Amrit Bharat rake. Primary maintenance will be done at Ahmedabad. Watering facilities will be arranged at Ratlam, Kota, Govindpuri and Pt. Deen Dayal Upadhyaya stations. These support points are important because they help keep the long journey running properly.
Start Date Not Announced
Right now, the exact launch date has not been publicly confirmed in the reports I checked. What has been said is that railway authorities have been told to begin regular operations as early as possible. The communication also says that if needed, the first trip can be run as a special service before the train fully starts its regular weekly schedule.
Amrit Bharat trains are part of Indian Railways’ growing push to offer better long-distance travel at lower cost. Indian Railways said at the end of 2025 that 30 Amrit Bharat train services were already operational across the network, and more were planned.
