They also thanked Balakrishna and director Boyapati Sreenu for standing with them during the trouble.
The makers added, “We sincerely apologize to all the fans and cinema lovers across the world who have been eagerly waiting for the film with so much anticipation… AKHANDA-2 WILL HIT THE BULLSEYE WHENEVER IT ARRIVES… COMING VERY SOON WITH A NEW DATE.”
Court Order Behind Delay
Earlier, the makers had already said that the movie could not release because of “unavoidable circumstances.” Later reports explained the real issue. A Madras High Court order stalled the release due to a financial dispute involving Eros International Media Limited and 14 Reels Entertainment.
Reports say the court ordered that Akhanda 2 cannot release in theatres, on streaming platforms, or through satellite until the unpaid amount of around ₹28 crore, along with interest, is cleared.
Because of this court order the Indian premiere had to be stopped at the last minute. Another update from the makers said, “Akhanda2 Premieres in India scheduled for today are cancelled due to technical issues. We’ve tried our best, but a few things are beyond our control. Sorry for the inconvenience. The overseas premieres will play as per the schedule today.”

What Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is all about?
Akhanda 2: Thaandavam is the sequel to the hit 2021 film Akhanda. It also marks the fourth time Balakrishna and Boyapati Sreenu have worked together. The cast includes Samyuktha, Aadhi Pinisetty, and Harshaali Malhotra from Bajrangi Bhaijaan. Music composer Thaman S returned to create the soundtrack.
The first part earned more than ₹117 crore around the world, which set very high expectations for the sequel.
