December Bank Holidays for 15 Days: December will start with a long run of bank holidays in many parts of the country. The Reserve Bank of India has shared the new holiday list, and it shows that banks in several states will stay closed for more than 15 days. These days include weekends, festivals and local events. People who want to deposit cash, clear cheques or update a passbook will need to plan ahead.

Long List of State Holidays in December
The month will begin with banks shutting down in Arunachal Pradesh for Indigenous Faith Day on 1 December. Soon after, Goa will have a break from 2–3 December because of the St Francis Xavier Feast. Meghalaya will see the longest early stretch. Banks there will stay closed from 3-12 December for Pa Togan Nengminza Sangma Day.
Later in the month, different states will stop services again. Chhattisgarh will mark Guru Ghasidas Jayanti on 18 December. Meghalaya will also pause work on the same date for U Soso Tham Death Anniversary. Goa will have another break on 19 December for Liberation Day.

Christmas Week Brings Many Closures
The holiday season gets even busier near Christmas. Banks in parts of the North East will stop work from 24 December for Christmas Eve. A day later, on 25 December, the whole country will have a bank holiday for Christmas.
The next day, 26 December, will also bring closures. Meghalaya, Mizoram and Telangana will remain closed for Christmas events. Haryana will stop work for Shaheed Udham Singh Jayanti on the same day. On 27 December, Haryana, Punjab and Himachal Pradesh will shut branches for Guru Gobind Singh Jayanti.

More state holidays will follow in the final days of the year. On 30 December, banks in Meghalaya and Sikkim will close for U Kiang Nangbah Day and Tamu Losar. On the last day of the year, 31 December, Mizoram and Manipur will have a year end break.
