Monday, the Allahabad High Court released Afzal Ansari, the brother of criminal Mukhtar Ansari. In the Mafia case, the High Court has refused to suspend the four-year sentence. In a Gangster Act Case, Ansari was convicted and sentenced to four years in prison.
He is presently incarcerated in Ghazipur. In May, Ansari was disqualified as a member of Lok Sabha due to his conviction and four-year prison sentence in a criminal case. He had petitioned the High Court for a stay of execution and release on parole.
