Amid protest, Donald Trump to swear in as 45th US President

Amidst the protest across the globe, Donald Trump will deliver his first presidential speech to hundreds of thousands of people gathered in Washington DC and millions watching around the world Friday afternoon local time (10: 30 pm IST).

Trump’s incoming press secretary Sean Spicer told media on Thursday that the speech will be very personal and philosophical about his vision for USA.

Trump’s 35-word swearing-in is on a 10,000 square foot specially-built platform in front of the Capitol that holds 1,600 people, Mirror reported.

Trump is expected to deliver a relatively short speech referring to ideas from his campaign “America First” and the need to “Make America Great Again”. The businessman-turned-politician is likely to include border security, the military, the economy and the outsourcing of jobs in his first speech as the US President, CNN reported.

However, more than 65 Democratic Congress members have announced in public they will skip the Trump Inauguration on Friday.

Meanwhile, anti-Trump protest have been taking the streets of America and various part across the world.  Black-clad protesters smashed the window of a Bank of America branch, shops and cars in the capital. The protestors also smashed the glasses of a McDonald’s restaurant.

Pro-marijuana activists also handed out 4,200 joints to light up four minutes and twenty seconds prior to Trump inauguration speech in violation of federal and local laws.

Meanwhile, British protestors draped a  banner reading “Build bridges not walls” across London’s Tower Bridge on Friday as part of a series of protests across the world aimed at expressing displeasure at the inauguration of Donald Trump as U.S. president.
