Apple iOS 18 Release Date

Apple iOS 18 Release Date: It is expected that Apple will introduce its next-generation software products at its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2024 next month.

Apple might revamp Siri’s voice assistant with advanced AI capabilities to allow users to control app functions using voice commands in iOS 18. Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman reports the AI features could be among the highlights of iOS 18.

The company may use large language models to revamp the underlying structure of the technology so Siri can take control of apps for the first time, Gurman said.

During next month’s event, the generative AI LLM will likely be among the highlights as the company joins the AI race.

Memo transcriptions, AI summaries, notification recaps, message replies, AI tools for editing photos, and generative AI emojis could also be added.

In order to introduce chatbot capabilities, the company is in discussions with OpenAI. Some of these features may be processed on-device. The rest may be handled in the cloud.

As for Siri, the voice assistant can open documents, move notes, send/delete emails, summarize articles, and more.

As part of the plan, the company may also provide Siri with the capability to handle multiple commands across apps. This will result in revamped controls for Siri within individual apps. However, the release date has been reportedly put at 2025.

According to Gurman, Apple could release iOS 17 in September when it launches its new iPhones.

Additionally, the system may decide whether the feature should be processed on the device or in the cloud.

The data could be protected via Secure Enclave on the Mac chipsets that could power the server and provide users with “intelligence reports.”
