Ayushmann Khurrana plays a cop in this designed crime thriller ‘Article 15’ released today. From the time the trailer of the movie came out, a lot has been said about the film and the concept behind it. As the film releases today, let’s check out the first-hand review of it!

The story is based on a young IPS officer’s new posting in rural India where he has to confront cast disparities and uncomfortable truths in the name of a gruesome crime. Ayan Ranjan played by Ayushmann Khurrana is given charge of Lalgaon police station in the heartland of India and soon after it he realizes that here he has to tackle more than what meets his eyes.

When he is grappling over the presence of caste discrimination and inequalities of the society, he gets hands-on news of three girls employed in a local factory who have gone missing from two days. But his colleagues Bhramdutt and Jatav (Manoj Pahwa and Kumud Mishra) tries to convince him that the girls will turn up. But the next morning two of them are founding hanging from the tree that surely confirms something went horribly wrong.

There is a pressure on Ayan to close the case as quickly as possible even his colleagues’ tries to convince him to sign off on the case file. But Ayan being a committed police officer is interested in getting into the bottom of the case and he refuses to close the case despite the threats and obstacles.

What basically works for the crime thriller helmed by Anubhav Sinha is the fact that the story is thought-provoking, hits hard on the mind and brings to light the burning social issues. It is indeed a movie that will spark a conversation between people.

On the technical aspect, the cinematography in the film is top notch and the background score perfectly adds up o the rhythm of the film thereby maintain the mood. There are scenes that will bring a shiver down the spine and will give you chills. Some proactive and uncomfortable images in the film stand out. Dialogues are highly impactful and the performances by the actors make the narrative stronger. The storyline will surely leave you with goose-bumps all over.

No doubt there will be times when you will witness the film dipping in its pace and also you may find some areas overstuffed. But certainly, the performances of the actors are one of the highlights of the film. Ayushmann Khurrana gets into the skin of the character with its intense and gripping act. Actors Manoj Pahwa, Kumud Mishra and Mohammed Zeeshan Ayub might have got a brief role but it was indeed impactful.

Article 15 overall is a film which is relevant, thought-provoking, hard-hitting and will leave you with some questions answered and some still to be answered.
