Hima Das, who registered a historic win at Asian Games 2018, by clinching three medals on her debut, received a grand and unique welcome at the Guwahati airport on her return to Assam on Friday, September 7.
Hima Das, who hails from Assam, was welcomed by Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal at the airport. To mark a unique home-return, grand carpet with track markings were laid out for the athlete at the Guwahati airport.
Hima shared the picture with her family at the airport through her Twitter account, while CM Sonowal shared the pictures of welcoming the athlete.

At the Asian Games, Hima set a new national record by clocking 50.79 second to win silver in the women’s 400m event. She won another silver in the mixed 4x400m relay and a gold in the women’s 4x400m relay.
It has been a great year for 18-year-old Hima, She first made the headlines in July after she won India’s first-ever track gold medal at the IAAF World Under-20 Athletics Championships in Finland.
